The BEACON Collaborative is a leading patient safety effort focusing on improving the quality of hospital care and ending inadvertent harm to patients by accelerating adoption of evidence-based and innovative practices through a data driven peer-to-peer learning network.
BEACON is creating a learning community among organizations who share a commitment to building healthier communities. Hospital leaders say that participation in BEACON generates enthusiasm, builds skills and adds significant value through the benchmarking and sharing of best practices beyond that of their own hospitals or systems.
Through a voluntary network of nurses, physicians, clinicians and hospital leadership, BEACON strives to become a national model of patient safety and quality improvement collaboration. Thirty-nine San Francisco Bay Area hospitals are committed to building a unique peer-to-peer knowledge exchange supported by BEACON’s emphasis on sharing best practices, resources and networking. Learning opportunities include Practical Skills for Quality Improvement workshops, 4-day Compass Series courses, quarterly conferences, webinars, brown bag lunches and leadership forums. BEACON Improvement Advisors provide participating facilities on-site support including techniques, methods, performance improvement tools and measurement models.
