BEACON’s Quarterly Meeting, “Practical and Tactical” on January 26, 2010 opened with Art
Sponseller, President and CEO for the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California,
and Bruce Spurlock, MD, Executive Director Clinical Acceleration for BEACON both
acknowledging how the impressive work of BEACON Collaborative participants is inspiring
hospitals across the state. The word is spreading and with it, enthusiasm to join in the
pursuit of accelerating improvements in patient safety. Dr. Spurlock announced that a
“Storytelling” theme will be integrated into each face to face meeting in 2010 in an effort to
provide hospitals with a variety of methods to tell their story of change and improvement to
patients, the community and peers.
