Art is the President and CEO of BEACON Collaborative and the President and CEO of the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California, providing strategic planning, and executive leadership for the Beacon Collaborative and is the primary contact for communications with member hospital CEO's. As President and CEO Hospital Council of Northern California, Art leads the Hospital Council, a trade association representing 200 Hospitals in 50 Californian Counties from Kern County to the Oregon border. Art was previously Chief Operating Officer for the California Hospital Association (CHA) and also was an executive with the Hospital Association of Southern California. He has extensive experience specializing in personnel and labor relations and has served as adjunct faculty for USC and University of LaVerne. Art earned a BBA from Eastern Michigan University and his JD from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. He is admitted to the State Bar of California. |

| Bruce Spurlock, M.D. |
Dr. Spurlock is the Executive Director, Clinical Acceleration of the BEACON Collaborative and is responsible for clinical leadership, creative design, strategic planning, and clinical content and scientific support. Dr. Spurlock is also the Chair of the CHART Steering Committee and an Adjunct Associate Professor with Stanford University. He is a nationally known speaker on health care topics ranging from future health care trends to redesigning specific operational units, and is published in local, state and national journals. As President/CEO of Convergence Health Consulting, Dr. Spurlock works with physicians and health care executives to create state-of-the-art results oriented clinical management programs. He is recognized as a leader in California quality initiatives, change management, performance improvement, physician relations, medical staff issues, ICU redesign, peer review, and patient safety. Dr. Spurlock was previously an executive vice president for the California Healthcare Association (CHA), an Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of California, Davis and has participated on the American Hospital Association’s Quality Leadership Team. In 1997 he was appointed by California Governor Wilson to the Managed Health Care Improvement Task Force, and has served as a trustee on the California Medical Association’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Spurlock received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Davis and completed his internal medicine residency, chief residency and general medicine fellowship at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Santa Clara, California. |

| Mary Lopez, RN, MSN | Mary is the Senior Vice President, Quality Initiatives and Education at the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California. Mary joined the Hospital Council in October 2007. With 30 years experience in the healthcare field, Mary's passion revolves around nursing and quality while focusing on patient safety. She has practiced as a registered nurse in the Central Valley since 1981, fulfilling roles such as critical care staff nurse, clinical operations director, education director, and administrative director of organizational performance. Inclusively she performed project management for the California Institute for Nursing and Healthcare and was a project coordinator for a grant funded research for the Association of California Nurse Leaders. Her current role includes oversight of the BEACON Collaborative in the Bay Area and developing additional regional efforts to support hospitals in their journey to reduce harm and improve quality of care. Mary holds a Master's degree with emphasis on education and Administration and a Bachelor's in Nursing and Public Health from California State University, Fresno, CA |

Pat is an Improvement Advisor for the BEACON Collaborative, providing individual hospital support for member hospitals. As an independent contractor, Pat specializes in quality improvement, patient safety, licensure and accreditation for hospitals, health systems and regional collaboratives. She supports state and local collaboratives, facilitates preparation for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Joint Commission surveys; develops policies and plans, and implements systems and databases. Pat is a requested public speaker at state and local conferences and has developed and offered numerous educational programs. Pat was previously a vice president of Quality Improvement and Care Management for Catholic Healthcare West, Pasadena, and has held senior level positions at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Northridge, and Thompson Memorial Medical Center, Burbank. Pat earned her Masters in Health Administration from the University of La Verne, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. |

Barbara is an Improvement Advisor for the BEACON Collaborative, providing individual hospital support for member hospitals. As an independent contractor, Barbara is recognized for her expertise in infection prevention, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives. She works with hospitals to provide vision and leadership in the development, implementation and facilitation of performance improvement initiatives and to facilitate peer-to-peer sharing of best practices. Barbara has written numerous articles and lectures nationally and internationally on infection prevention, patient safety, and healthcare worker safety. She was named “2008 Educator of the Year” by Infection Control Today. Barbara was previously the Director of Infection Control and Patient Safety at California Pacific Medical Center. She held similar positions at St Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco and the VA Hospital in Bronx, New York. Barbara earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing at San Francisco State and her BSN in nursing from Pace University, New York. She is a Certified Infection Control Practitioner |

| Teresa Roebuck |
Teresa is the BEACON Collaborative Program Coordinator, Hospital Council of Northern and Central California, providing the coordination and execution of Beacon Collaborative events and administration of the website. As a member of the Hospital Council staff, she is responsible for event planning, on-site event management, on-site training and works the behind the scenes as the website administrator. Teresa was previously in account management in the mortgage software industry and specialized in on-line training as well as improving customer service and increasing revenue through relationship management. Teresa earned her BBA degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. |
